Haein Kang is a Korean-born, Seattle-based artist. Her work poetically engages with advanced technology; her machines exist solely for beauty. She began her career as an artist by winning the grand prize at the installation art competition hosted by the San Francisco Arts Commission in 2002, held her first solo exhibition at the SOMA Museum at Seoul in 2009, and received Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica in 2019. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Washington and participates in numerous conferences and festivals on art and technology convergence, such as ICMC, IEEE-GEM, and ISEA. She is also an active artist, receiving a variety of grants and fellowships, exhibiting her work in international venues, including Albuquerque, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Seoul.
